The Education Programme at Rustington Museum intends to encourage all levels of learning and ability to enjoy and understand the Museum’s collection and the history of Rustington. With workshops, lectures and hands-on museum activities, we will try to make the museum accessible to everyone as well as encouraging life long learning. Our education programme is designed to enhance the visitor experience so that a visit to Rustington Museum will introduce adults and children alike to the story of a Sussex village from the beginning of time up to the present day.
School groups to Rustington Museum can participate with independent or structured visits, object handling boxes and an outreach service. We will adapt your visit to suit all groups and they can either be led independently or with the Curator. The museum’s collection can help support a range of national curriculum subjects and topics from art and design, citizenship and history. We would like to encourage young adults who live within the local community to become involved with the development of the museum. If you are a young adult (12 – 19 years) and belong to a local group that would like to arrange an activity with the museum please contact us. The Curator is always happy to organise work experience for anyone who is interested in finding out what it takes to run a museum. Our adult learning programme will include events arranged alongside our exhibition programme and permanent displays. The Curator is available for talks and lectures.
